May and June
Well, I'll be honest, I've not been keeping a very good track of what I've been making over the last few months. I can't remember what month I made what when, so we are just going to combine months. so in no particular order, this is what I made in May and June.

I turned a beloved pair of jeans into a pencil skirt. I had worn thought said jeans in the inside leg area, it is a difficult area to patch without looking too obvious and still being comfortable to wear. I'm, not a big skirt wearer, so I wasn't sure about how beyond the theoretical how to make it or if I would wear it if I did make it. But I pressed ahead and it worked surprisingly well, there was a bit of fiddling to get the seams to look right. The most difficult I had with it was trying to work out what length to have it come to. The full length was the first choice, but it weirdly still looked like a pair of jeans. I played around with lengths but finally settled on knee-length. However, I wish I put a slit in the back because working is a bit restrictive.
In my quest to reuse old clothes, I have been making sock friends, a cat, a whale and a sleepy doll. I have several pairs of cat socks in different colours. I wanted to use the cat face motif on the toes as the face of my cat, but the heal of the socks also had a face, so I had a lot of fun finding enough fabric to make the rest of the cat. I think it came out super cute, and Simon has adopted it to keep his rings safe when he's not wearing. I also had studio Ghibli socks and a blue pair I turned into a whale, all the detail was on the ankle, so the toe end of one of the socks became the head, and the other sock became the tail. I cut the tail badly and had to remodel, so it has come out a bit small. My final sock friend was made out of the leftover of Ian the sock monkey, an old T-shirt and an odd purple sock, I love the cute sleeping teddys and wanted to make one similar, I think it came out ok, but it's not my favourite creation.
I turned part of my scrap patchwork into a Twiddle mitt. ''Twiddle mitts' are mittens or hand warmers with beads, buttons and objects sewn on to them. The mitts are becoming popular gifts for those living with dementia, as having something to 'twiddle' helps to calm agitation and restlessness'1. I thought it would make a good Twiddle mitt because of the different textures of the fabrics, and I finished it off with a whole selection of bits and bobs I found in my craft draw.
The last thing I finished was my diamond fade lap blanket. The idea is that you use two colours, mine is white and purple, using the ring on the granny square to make it appear as though the colours are fading into each other. One colour is the joining colour and outer ring colour and the other is the inner colour. then if you join the square on the ends they look like diamonds. It's hard to explain, so hopefully, the pictures will make it clear.
I am still not sure this is everything I made in May and June, I wasn't feeling very enthused with what I was making so its been kind of hard to write about. So apologies again for the lateness of this.
