March

March has been quite a quiet month for crafts from me, Even after spending five days in isolation.  When I say isolation I am luckier than most my company hasn't closed down yet, but I had a sore throat, following government guidelines I had a week off, it didn't come to anything but I didn't want to transmit it all the same.

Firstly, you know that patchwork blanket I said wouldn't get finished any time soon, it got finished. I made one final push to get it done, and I am really pleased with how it came out. I have made some patchwork blankets in the past, but I have never used wadding and never tried sewing patterns when sewing the three layers together. I went with a simple zig-zag pattern, I had great fun doing this as the layers would move around and I had to aim each sitch to make sure it looked nice on both sides. I am so glad I hand sewed it because it gave me plenty of time to make sure each stitch look right. I finished it all with bias binding, I made it on my new favourite toy, bias binding maker. I even sent it off to its new home with a friend of mine.

To use up some of the spare hexagons from the patchwork blanket, I made a headphone tidy. I picked three different patches one full hexagon and two half, then I cut out lining pieces and sewed it all together. The most fun bit was making a Dorset button, I have never made them before. It was a bit like when I made dream catchers as a kid. It came out a little wonky but I think that makes it look cute and hand made.

I also made a crochet dinosaur. I saw a picture on Pinterest and thought it would be fun and easy to make. It took me a whole day, I was surprised it took me so long, seeing as it looks so simple, but it amazed me how many rows I needed to make the body the height I wanted. The original picture had teddy bear eyes, but since I may donate it, I wanted it to be suitable for any age children I gave mine wool eyes and a wool 'W' mouth.

So that's about it. I made some other things that I am going to put in a different blog and did some work on some of my bigger projects, but I'll tell you about them another time.
