April

I am falling a bit behind with these, so please forgive me. I am finding like most of us, that isolation is a strange time. It is great to finally have the time to get all those projects done, but I  find myself looking at all my projects and having no motivation to do them. Let us look positively at the things I have done this month.

Firstly on my quest to reteach my self to sew, I have made the little children of the world another cute pillowcase dress. This time I used an old black pillowcase and contrast it with some orange gingham and orange flowery bias binding. Actually, the bias binding was my first attempt at using my bias binding tool, so it was great to finally use it up and make something cute with it. With the Gingham, I made a cute little pocket on the front. I love how cute, quick and easy these little dresses are to make. I have made quite a collection of dresses to send to charity when this is all over.

For my birthday last year, my mother in law gave me a Pusheen crochet kit. Pusheen is a cute cartoon cat, of which I am rather fond of.  I am not going to lie I had been putting off making these Pusheen plushies up, I was worried they would be small and fiddly with a complicated pattern. I am a competent crocheter but I hate reading patterns. As it turned out all my worries were for nothing, as these are a nice size, with an easy pattern to follow and lovely soft wool. So the kit came with everything I need to make two different Pusheen teddys, one that looks like a unicorn and one holding a doughnut. The first pattern and the one I made this month is for the unicorn one. The pattern is pretty simple, a potato shape with legs and a unicorn horn. The kit comes with felt for the stripe and the face, but I ended up using black wool to make the face because the contrast between wool and the felt wasn't that great. I also crotchety the horn and the hair because I didn't like the way the pattern said to do it. But other than that I followed the pattern completely, so I am pretty proud of myself.
Notable Mention
Doughnut Pusheen- I was so in love with the first Pusheen I fancied having a go at the next one. I am done with the body and ears. and I am about to start on the feet.
Crazy Crum Patchwork- I have been using up all my tiny scraps of fabric, by sewing them all together on a larger piece of fabric to make a freeform cute pattern. For a long time, I wasn't sure what to do with it, but I have finally decided to turn it into a fiddle mitten.
